Diwali Celebration

Diwali is here! Diwali - The festival of lights! The biggest festival in india and mainly celebrated by hindus. May this diwali light up new dreams, hopes, perspectives, everything bright and Beautiful. Wishing you all Happy Diwali to you and your family!

A five-day celebration of diwali starts with Vaag Baras, Dhanteras, Kali Chaudash, Diwali and Bhai Beej celebrated with firecrackers, lights and sweets.  It's that time of year. That's right! Diwali is here. We prepare our new clothes for diwali. People usually wear new clothes on the night of Diwali, light firecrackers, people gift each other, and share the sweets with your loved ones.

According to the Hindu the gujarati calender Diwali is last day of the year. People clean their houses from every corner and decorate with lights and diyas. The whole family wakes up early and bathes, we pray to goddess Lakshmi and lord Ganesha for an abundance of health, wealth, happiness and protection. We welcome the goddess Lakshmi by lighting diyas, Line the diyas outside the door and Draw the rangoli and footprints of the goddess lakshmi at doorsteps and entrances of our houses. We dress in new clothes, light sparkles, makes yummy sweets and we love to eat.

We also performs lakshmi pooja on Dhanteras - the festival of wealth and prosperity. This festival is celebrated in honor of lakshmi on third day of diwali. where the whole family gathers for lakshmi pooja and worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi.

Without delicious snacks diwali preperation is incomplete. Apart from diwali home decoration, spicy snacks prepared on occasion of diwali. Authentic gujarati snacks like Mathiya/Mathia is specialty of Gujarat made, chevdo, shakarpara, chakri, farsi puri, chorafali - it is specially prepared for this festive season which add more flavor and colors to the celebration of festival. Each state of India has its own way of celebration of Diwali.
The day after diwali Gujarat celebrates new year - Bestu varas/ Navu Varsh/New Year. It's the start of the new year. People wish each other "Nutanvarsh Abhinandan" that means Happy New Year in Gujarati. people decorate their houses with fresh flowers for the new year. We visit our relatives during diwali to spend time and celebrate the holiday and look forward to what the coming year will bring.
